Great work. Everything was perfect and even made suggestions when the type of trophy I wanted was no longer in stock. Would definitely use them again in the future.

The Client
Established in 2006 through the merger of Brighton East and Brighton Central cricket clubs, Brighton District Cricket Club (BDCC) is proudly a club for all. With a strong community spirit and a legacy stretching back decades, BDCC fields teams for players of all ages and abilities.
Based at Dendy Park, the club is currently experiencing a new chapter of growth, with upgraded facilities in the works and a commitment to fostering inclusive, grassroots cricket for years to come.
The Vision
Each season, BDCC celebrates the efforts and achievements of its players, volunteers, and contributors through its annual presentation night. With a wide range of awards to prepare, including individual player trophies and historic perpetual honours named after club legends, the club needs an engraving partner who can deliver quality and consistency without creating extra work for the volunteer team behind the scenes.
Their focus is simple: make the process seamless, make the awards meaningful, and make sure they’re ready on time.
Why They Came to Scotia Engraving
Scotia Engraving has been a fixture in the BDCC story long before the club itself officially existed. We began supplying engraving services to Brighton East Cricket Club in the 1980s, and that partnership continued after the club’s amalgamation into what is now Brighton District.
Our Engraving Solution
BDCC’s needs are straightforward, but they require skill and consistency. Each year, we supply:
- Custom player trophies and medals for batting, bowling, and contribution-based awards
- Hand-engraved updates to multiple perpetual trophies, many of which carry decades of history
While most of the awards use modern techniques, several require traditional hand-chiselled engraving or handheld machine engraving, a niche skill we’ve been perfecting for over 70 years.
The club simply provides an Excel spreadsheet with engraving details. From there, we take ownership of the process, ensuring all names are accurate, layouts are consistent, and trophies are completed to the high standard the club has come to expect.
How We Collaborated
The nature of this partnership is built on trust and repetition. While there are no complex design approvals or meetings required, we stay in close contact to clarify any missing or unclear information and ensure nothing is overlooked.
- We receive the award details via spreadsheet
- Our team confirms any ambiguous or missing entries
- Production begins immediately, with perpetuals updated and new trophies engraved
- All items are delivered ahead of BDCC’s presentation night
The predictability of the process allows club volunteers to focus on other responsibilities like booking venues, managing RSVPs, and organising catering, knowing the awards will be done right.
Challenges and Outcomes
There are no major obstacles with this project, but that doesn’t mean attention is compromised. The hand-finishing of perpetual trophies requires both experience and precision, and the responsibility of maintaining these legacy pieces isn’t taken lightly.
Our work ensures that year after year, BDCC can uphold its traditions and recognise its members with awards that feel personal and enduring.
